Our Story
The Good Bark Story
Welcome to Good Bark! If you’re here, it’s probably because your camera roll is 90% photos of your dog sleeping, playing, or looking at you with those irresistible puppy-dog eyes.
We get it. We’re obsessed, too.
At Good Bark, we believe that treating your dog shouldn't just be about a fleeting moment of happiness; it should be a building block for a longer, healthier life. We exist to bridge the gap between "delicious" and "nutritious," proving that real love looks like real ingredients.
It Started With a Mystery (Ryan & Jax’s Story)
It’s funny how we prepare for a new dog. We buy the squeakiest toys, the fluffiest beds, and map out the best walking routes. That’s exactly where our co-founder, Ryan Walker, started when he adopted his Golden Lab, Jax.
But a few weeks in, the joy was clouded by worry. Jax was struggling with a mystery illness—he was lethargic, itchy, and just not himself. After a lot of vet visits and sleepless nights, Ryan discovered the culprit wasn't a bug or a virus; it was the food.
Ryan switched Jax to a diet of whole, natural foods, and the transformation was nothing short of magic. The itching stopped, the tail started wagging harder, and that "puppy spark" came back brighter than ever. Ryan realized that if food could hurt Jax, it could also heal him. He knew he had to share that power with other dog owners.
It Was Fueled by Love (Joe & Fluffy’s Story)
While Ryan was discovering the power of nutrition, our co-founder Joe Ghafari was learning a harder lesson about how precious time is.
Joe’s best friend was Fluffy. For ten years, she was his shadow, his confidant, and his everything. When Fluffy was diagnosed with a tumor, it was a devastating wake-up call. It became heartbreakingly clear that what we put in our dogs' bowls is just as important as the belly rubs and the "good girls" we give them.
Joe wanted to turn that heartbreak into hope. He wanted to create something that combined deep love with real research—products that could help other dogs avoid health scares and live their happiest lives for as long as possible.
A Pact for Pups
Ryan and Joe teamed up with a single, non-negotiable mission: To make treats we are proud to eat ourselves (though we promise to save them for the dogs).
They realized that the market was full of treats loaded with preservatives and fillers that did nothing for a dog's actual health. They wanted to create treats that worked double-time—tasting like a cheat day but working like a vitamin.
